"God is a spirit; and they who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth."

John 4:24

A Message for today

There shall come in the last day scoffers, … saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 2 Peter 3:3,4.

Nothing for the heart?

How many things in the world today are contradictory! Former moral standards like the concepts of the family, honesty, truth and friendship have declined. Artificial diversions, like the chance to win a fortune, pleasures that can turn into addictions or anything that encourages human pride, are dangled before the eyes of people who are saturated with distractions anyway. Yet they do not satisfy the heart. What could be more unbearable than an empty heart? None of this world’s pleasures can fill it.

Life resembles a journey that ends before God. For this journey there is only one guidebook, the Bible, the Word of God. It opens up the way of salvation for us. It also shows us where the various enticing diversions lead. Yet there are still scoffers who shrug their shoulders and ask derisively, “Where is your God? Who has ever returned from the dead to tell us what lies beyond?” – “Just wait!” we answer. “One day you will learn, but then it will be too late!”

Statement of faith

The Evangelical Baptist Church accepts the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed, without the Filioque clause of the Western Church, as a concise, but complete, statement of the main tenets of Christianity, and as derived from the Holy Scriptures. Every other Statement of Faith and Practice is only a further development and interpretation of these tenets, or a reference to particular subjects, which could not be included in a Creed as synoptic as this.

What we believe :

About the Scriptures
About the True God
About the Holy Spirit
About Jesus Christ
About atonement
About the grace of God
About the Church
About baptism and the Lord's Supper
About the bodily Resurrection of Christ and His Second Coming
